Mario Žgela is returning to FNC after two years: In Sarajevo, he faces an experienced Brazilian

The return of the 'Lumberjack' has been eagerly awaited, and the time has finally come for it

We last saw him in the cage two years ago when he won the second season of 'Armagedon Jamnica Pro Sport' MMA league with a first-round knockout against Felix Polianidis (46, 6-15). After that, Mario Žgela (26, 6-2) was supposed to fight Yannick Bahati (34, 9-7) last year, but it didn't happen. However, the popular 'Lumberjack' is now returning to the Fight Nation Championship cage, and at FNC 14 in Sarajevo, he will face Brazilian Mateus Messaros Inacio (39, 14-11) in a catchweight bout up to 95 kilograms.

Žgela trained for a long time at MMA Valens in Vinkovci, and for an additional step forward, he decided to move to Zagreb and join the American Top Team. His 'raw strength' is well-known, and he spent a long time working physically in the forest, further developing that potential. Technique has never been his strong suit, but his incredible destructive striking power and iron will are what he will showcase in the Bosnian-Herzegovinian capital.

The Brazilian fighter made his MMA debut back in 2012 when Žgela was 15 years old, and he is currently on a streak of two submission victories. He is even 15 cm shorter (178) than Žgela (193), and in the last two years, he has had eight matches, winning four and losing four times. He has fought against Dirlei Broenstrup (42, 17-11), a fighter we saw in the main event of FNC 11 in the Zagreb Arena, where he lost to Ivan Erslan (32, 13-3-1) by first-round knockout.

The event is just around the corner, scheduled for Saturday, December 16th, starting at 7 PM in Sarajevo at the Zetra Arena, and tickets are available through the kupikartu.ba system.
